Was wondering what people were going to be bringing for beers to the cookout next weekend. I have a IIPA thats ready, and maybe a funky one for fun. Who else has some homebrew? Also, how many people are going to have porters to try for the next club competition? afro

We're legging the watermelon wheat tonight, hoping that will be ready for a sample as well!

Hoping to bring a vanilla bean stout as long as it's carbed up. If not, a Sierra Nevada PA clone. Can't wait to try some new brews from everyone.

Vanilla bean stout sounds freaking awesome!

I wish I took a picture of the yeast/trub covered watermelon remains that came outta the fermenter tonight, it was...special

I have 2 porters I made with a split batch. One had 1084 irish ale yeast and the other had the thames valley II yeast. I tried a sample of the irish ale yeast and it was tasty...

Just a thought....should we try and get some commercial examples to compare to or just read the guidelines prior to tasting?

I think that's a great idea, I can pull some Sam smith taddy porter, and smutty nose robust porter. Only problem is, I don't have any commercial examples of a Baltic porter at the store currently, but I'm not even sure if anyone brewed one?

So I think my vanilla bean stout tunrned into a porter somewhere along the way. added a lot more dark malts than i was originally going to. Just ran the numbers through hopville's beer calculator and turns out I have a robust porter on my hands. very roasty with chocolate and coffee flavor in there with just a hint of vanilla. so i guess i'll through this porter into the ring with the rest of you boys. see you Sat.
