IBU-less Cascade Ale
IBU-less Cascade Ale
Was day-dreaming at work today and I was wondering what a beer would taste like if it didn't have any actual IBU's? I was thinking of all the way you can add hops without adding and actual IBU's. I thought of adding hops to the mash, hops at flame-out and dry hopping. I also thought of first-wort hopping but I heard a podcast on basic brewing last week of how adding first wort hops actually does add IBU's to the beer. So anyway, here's what I came up with -
1 GALLON BATCH -
1.5 lbs. maris otter
1 oz. light munich
1 oz. white wheat
1 oz. C40
1/3 oz. cascade (mash)
1/3 oz. cascade (flame-out)
1/3 oz. cascade (dry hop - 7 days)
2 grams US-05 dry yeast
Can't wait to see how this turns out. I'll bring a bottle to the next meeting as long as it doesn't taste like butt!
