Re: whats brewing
Sippin on a tulip of what I call the "summer of funk" a nice citrusy golden ale but fermented with bugs. Its nice and sour without all the barnyard funk, really impressed with it.
I got a Belgian quad that's sitting on oak cubes soaked in Pinot noir. Thinking I might throw in some Brett-lacto blend and feed it with some funky fruit. It's a 6 month project at this point, but should be worth the wait!

Re: whats brewing
Not brewing anything right now due to my current geographical separation... but I have two things to announce:
1st: the extract amber is bottled and sitting in my kitchen - would Mr Cellar come and pick it up to distro to the peeps who paid for BBD II? Four bottles each. If you need the list I can email it.
2nd: I have tapped the keg of IPA and it is delicious! I can give out samples SPARINGLY if the appropriate motivation is offered.
I'll be back up in 2 wks to check on SWMBO and dogs.
Bazooka out.

Re: whats brewing
I feel your pain Bazooka, my apartment is way to freakin' hot to ferment anything really. And theres so much funk anything "regular" I try to ferment just grows a pellicle and gets funky. Hell, I left a glass of soda out overnight and that started growing!
MrCellar finally got the electric brewery up and running, if I could figure how to post pictures i would cause its BADASS! We got a watermelon honey wheat, and a red IPA rocking and rolling right now.
I heard from the AHA that they tried to push a bill through making it legal to brew in Alabama but it got veto'd so your gonna have to practice black ops brewing!!

Re: whats brewing
When are you brewing, and how big is the beer your gonna be brewing (gravity) cause if you're gonna be spinning on stir plate you may be able to get away with just the 1000 ml starter. Let me know what gravity is. When r u brewing only need to spin like 2-3 days with that type of starter you can always spin longer.

Re: whats brewing
My math gets a 2L starter on a stir plate with one yeast pack. If you have the room I'd go for the whole thing at once instead of stepping it. But that's just how I roll

Re: whats brewing
That's awesome dude, good job! Can't wait to see how it turns out
Tasting notes on the watermelon wheat: nice honey nose, with good wheat notes, can't really smell the fruit, but the flavor is awesome! The subtle honey and melon notes blend real well with wheat "snap" and has a nice clean finish. Bringing this one to the cook out for sure!

Re: whats brewing
Man, this thread is a tease! I am just starting a 2 week vaca and I guess I may want to plan a brew even though I hate summer brewing because of the temp/bugs. I do have the idea of Black IPA and koelsch next on my list though.....Any brilliant (nailer engineered) wort cooling ideas out there?
